Disorganized and poorly written

I was looking for a "101" kind of book on composition, and was hoping this would be it. However, there are several things that made it a disappointment.
Firstly, it is poorly written. There are so many, SO MANY typos in the book that it's distracting, making it hard to read. For example, there are many pairs of words with no space between them, so typical of a copy&paste with a hasty removal of extra lines.
Then there are other mistakes that are not typos. "Your" might be a standard replacement for "you are" in cellphone chats and graffitied walls, but it is out of place in an academic book. The same with "it's" and "its", and those are the two that were most notorious to me.
Secondly, it is very disorganized. It lacks a clearly structured line that one can follow and track. It says at the beginning that the book is "a compilation of the very best of [...] but too often there are phrases like "in today's post", which should have been removed for book format, and WAY too often the author uses a term or concept X without defining it, saying "I will talk about X later", but "later" is actually too late, and the definitions --when they come-- are usually incomplete and many are accompanied by references to a single book that is cited again and again.
It appears to me that the author just saw the business opportunity and quickly dumped the whole contents of his blog to an editor, moved a few parts here and there, added a few welcome words and shipped it without even using a spell checker.
On the plus side, there are two or three sentences here and there worth remembering (but nothing that you can't find in a self-help book, like "have discipline" and "be consistent"), and a good set of links at the end (but nothing that you can't find in the blog or in Google).
Finally, don't fall for the price argument ("it's cheap", "you get what you pay for", etc.). I'm critizicing the book, not its price, but it if has to come to that, not only there are free books and blogs that are well written and a pleasure to read (without the need of paid professional editors), but in these days even the spell checkers are free.

Poorly written and edited. Nothing like a real 101 course. Still useful.

The writing is a scrambled mess, with no visible attempt to organize the blog posts into a structure more appropriate for book form. Frequent, glaring errors of basic English (e.g. "your" where any middle schooler should know to use "you're") distract from the content. I suspect I've put more effort into editing this review than the author did the book.
Also, the title is misleading. This contains nothing like the content you'd get in a freshman survey course on the topic. It lacks the depth and rigor of even a light "101" course.
That said: There's enough information in here that someone with a bit of background playing music (but little to none in composing), and patience to plod through the execrably edited text, can glean some helpful tips on the process of composing.
I'd say it's worth the $3.99 I paid. To charge any more than that, the writer had better avail himself of an editor.
