These Blues Tickle Me Pink

Packed with snappy rhythms and phat scat beats, the Middle Child Blues ALMOST makes me wish I weren't the oldest! A must-read for any kid, middle or otherwise.

I always enjoy Catrow's illustrations

I always enjoy Catrow's illustrations. The peppy story made me wish I knew how to sing as I would have loved to sing this to the Kindergarten students I was reading this to. I read some of the other comments saying this was a downer, that nothing happened to make the middle-child finally feel loved. The reader must have missed that the parents realized what he was going through because they were middle children too, but had forgotten what it felt like. I found the story upbeat and a happy ending with good things to come.

Mo' better blues elsewhere...

I wanted to like The Middle-Child Blues more, but the narrative is a little leaden at times. Maybe that was the point, though. I just didn't get it. The full-color illustrations are a welcome distraction from the story. I can't recommend this book.
